After the offensive ineptitude displayed by back-up striker Marouane Chamakh for the first 60 minutes of the match against Stoke City, Arsenal boss realized he needed to bring his captain in to take charge.

Robin van Persie, who originally started off the game on the bench for rest came on in a 1-1 tie.

The Dutchmen scored twice, in the 73rd minute and then in the 82nd minute. Van Persie now has 30 goals in Arsenal’s last 36 competitions.

It was nice to see Aaron Ramsey play well, that game-winner he scored on Wednesday vs. Marseille has done wonders for his confidence. He had a beautiful chip pass to Gervinho as the Ivorian forward scored his first goal at the Emirates.

Gervinho played exceptionally well today, scoring a goal and assisting on both goals to van Persie.

Arsenal have now won six of their past seven and will play Bolton on Tuesday in the Carling Cup.

Elsewhere…

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Queens Park Rangers. Two significant things happened in this game. Didier Drogba got a red card today and so he will be suspended for next week’s game against Arsenal. Also Chelsea captain John Terry created controversy when he was caught on camera racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.

In the Manchester Derby today United was rocked by City at Old Trafford. Manchester City humiliated the Red Devils with a 6-1 statement victory.

Italian striker Mario Balotelli scored twice in Man City's victory.

Mario Balotelli made positive headlines on the pitch by scoring two goals against United on Sunday. He celebrated by lifting up his jersey to show a shirt that said, “Why Always Me?” a reference to his bad boy reputation, which increased even more after his incident this weekend.

Balotelli and his friends ended up setting the bathroom of his £3 million mansion on fire after they were setting off fireworks inside his house.

The Italian though scored his first goal in the 22nd minute off a pass and finished a cross from James Milner to score his second in the 60th minute.

David Silva played brilliant for Citeh today and added a goal in stoppage time.

This victory proves Manchester City is truly the cream of the crop in the Premier League and with so many weapons on their team they can compete with anyone.
