It was a good weekend for soccer and Arsenal traveled to face Norwich City — they’re first match in two weeks due to the international break.

The Canaries as Norwich City is nicknamed may have been overmatched, but they never gave up.

They scored the first goal after a terrible mistake from center back Per Mertesacker who allowed himself to give up the ball to Canaries player — Steve Morison.

Arsenal controlled the ball in the Canaries part of the field in the first half and could’ve had multiple goals.

Here are match highlights.

Despite not scoring even though he had several chances, Gervinho played well. He has been an excellent pickup for Arsenal and has replaced Samir Nasri. Gervinho wreaks havoc on the outside wing with his clever dribbling ability.

Theo Walcott also had an excellent game for Arsenal and he assisted on van Persie’s first goal with a lovely cross.

On defense, Arsenal benefitted from having their best defender back in full form — Belgian Thomas Vermaelen.

The Verminator had an incredible game and showed why he’s one of the best center backs in the Premier League.

Next up… Arsenal play Borussia Dortmund in Champions League play on Wednesday. Dortmund beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in its last game and are in second place in the Bundesliga.

The final of the Major League Soccer season was underway last night when the LA Galaxy faced the underdog Houston Dynamo.

The Galaxy with stars such as Landon Donovan, David Beckham, and Robbie Keane were desperate for a Cup. All game the Galaxy controlled possession and were in the attacking third of the pitch. The Dynamo were completely overmatched by the Galaxy’s stars.

Donovan scored the lone goal in the game, as the Galaxy finally won the MLS Cup. It was a storybook end to a great season by LA, but now there is uncertainty for next year. David Beckham’s contract is up and it remains to be seen if he’ll stay with LA. Several Premier League teams such as QPR and Tottenham have been rumored to be interested in Becks.
